It is impossible for us to stop the aging process and it would not be proper to consider any of our treatments as “anti-aging” in nature. Ultimately, we all have to face the continuance of time, but we do not have to exhibit the decades of exposure to the elements that often plagues us as the years pass. When we look good on the outside, it is easier to feel good inside and with our minimally invasive, effective aesthetic treatments, it is possible to regain the external beauty of our youth to some degree. We are not in the business of frozen faces and duck lips, rather a more natural and refreshed look is preferred.

With Botox we can smooth out the lines caused by years of sun exposure, frowning, squinting, laughing, and deep thinking! There is no downtime, limited risk, and beautiful results that give you a refreshed, rested, and rejuvenated appearance. No one will even know that you had Botox it will look so natural, but you will receive compliments on how rejuvenated you look!

BOTOX ® Cosmetic is an ideal solution for individuals aged 18-65 looking for a safe, non-surgical approach to the reduction in the appearance of facial wrinkles. The facial areas typically treated include horizontal forehead lines, frown lines in between the brows, crow’s feet, and bunny lines on the bridge of the nose. In addition, a spa brow lift can be done to gently increase the brow arches.

How is it performed?

A very small needle is used to inject the solution into the facial musculature and elicits very little pain depending on the area treated. Results of BOTOX® are not apparent until 3-7 days after treatment and typically last from 3-6 months. The amount of BOTOX® needed varies depending on the individual and desired results.

Is it dangerous or harmful to my health?

Many people are fearful to have a “toxin” injected into their face, wondering what the ill effects could be. The truth is, Botulinum Toxin A (BOTOX® Cosmetic) contains only tiny amounts of a highly purified Botulinum Toxin Protein and the amount utilized cosmetically for the facial muscles is extremely minute. Despite the fear-invoking word “toxin”, Botox injections for facial rhytids (wrinkles) is very safe and if by some chance you were not happy with your results (highly unlikely J) then it wears off after 3-4 months. The key to ensuring a good Botox experience is by selecting an experienced injector that has been properly trained in administration and technique.

A Little History…

Botox was approved for cosmetic use in 2002, but research actually began in the 1950s when Dr. Vernon Brooks discovered the potential muscle “relaxing” effects. For over 2 decades now it has been researched and utilized in a number of treatment modalities including cervical dystonia (severe neck spasms), hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating), migraines, TMJ, overactive bladder, crossed-eyes, and may even be beneficial in treating depression!

So how does it work?

Botox stops the release of a substance called acetylcholine from a protein inside the neuron which acts to stimulate muscle movement. This blocking of communication results in weakness and immobility of the facial muscle responsible for making wrinkles appear.

What is a unit and how many do I need?

A Botox unit is actually very small, about the size of a small teardrop. The amount you need depends on the number of areas you want treated.
